Dpf Cleaner

Featured Replies

hi,how often can i use dpf cleaner, put some in last month but engine malfuntion lights back on

2008 1.6 tdci focus

That stuff rarely works, mostly snake oil. You need to treat the core problem; the DPF itself; could be blocked (likely at that age) or just need the eolys fluid refilling. Get the diagnostic codes read to be sure what you need.

how many miles you done ?

the dpf will fill with ash and there is nothing you can do about it, short of gutting it or replacing it, before that point it fills up with soot, now depending on your driving you might be able to convert that soot in to ash, at the age of the car however I suspect it won't matter.

Keep in mind that the longer you increase back pressure on the turbo by running a blocked dpf the more chance you will blow your turbo.

When you got this car what they failed to tell you is that the dpf is a ticking bomb, I would suggest dealing with it properly, additives will Not help

As above - many so called '' dpf cleaners '' are combusted prior to reaching the dpf

Hi

I know a silly question deserves a silly answer but.

If you thrash/Drive the car hard for a period of time can that clear the dpf ? IE use super diesel plus dpf cleaner etc

Jamie

Nope, the best you'll achieve is a regeneration, which is when the accumulated soot is burnt into ash, which eventually clogs the dpf, good expensive dpf cleaners may help prolong the life of the dpf - but at the end of the day its an expensive serviceable item
