I've a mk7. the power point next to the gear stick appears not to be working properly.

A while ago, it worked fine - could plug any accessory in like satnav / phone charger etc but now its not working. I put it down to potentially needing new fuse, and was looking to get a new one.

However, yesterday i plugged the tyre inflator in to check the pressures and to my surprise, it worked fine.

I haven't changed satnav or phone charger or anything so why are they all suddenly not working, but the tyre inflator still is?? i know the phone charger and satnav still work as use in van etc

    Intermittent loose connection somewhere affecting the power to the socket by the sounds of it

    Sometimes the contacts on the accessory in use become misshapen - try inserting & wiggling the plug of the accessory & see if it then works
