Mk2.5 Window Tinting

Featured Replies

Greetings all. I have decided to make my standard silver 1.6 zetec look a little better, starting with window tints, just cant decide between 5% or 25% shade. One thing I am sure about is that I am tackling this myself using a pre cut kit from Ebay saving £80+. Has anyone got any tips or anything I should be aware of before attempting this?

Thanks all

Make sure the inside of the windows are spotlessly clean as any smears or dust will show up.

5% tint won't even be noticeable.

I've tinted a few cars. The first and most important thing is to make sure the windows are squeaky clean.

The precut stuff is good. Make sure you use a heat gun for the curvature of the rear window.

There is plenty of videos on YouTube. That's how I learnt.

Sorry should have made post more clear, 5% light throughput, Limo Black

Been watching many youtube videos, they make it look simple........

Limo black is good. Imo. You might struggle to see out the back though if you don't have tints. It will take a while to get used to.

If I were you I'd only go limo black if you have reversing sensors (unless you love hearing expensive crunching noises).

I prefer limo black but I have always been used to it having it on all my cars. Dark smoke tint still looks nice though.

I take it it's only the rear windows you're tinting? Pretty sure you won't get off with limo black tints on the front.

Yes just the rears. Might go for dark smoke to be safe.....

i tinted mine 20% and im happy with it. you can just about see in from outside and its not too dark to look through at night when reversing etc

I set mine to 25% and its perfect for seeing out and not letting people look in and looks smart. 5% would be too much its for limos really.

I guess standard privacy glass is about 25% 'dark smoke'? That's what I have and no issues seeing out the back at all. Had limo tints on a previous car and hated it, couldn't see a thing lol.
