Identify This Mystery Part!

Featured Replies

Hey all. I have a part here and am completely stumped. When doing maintenance on my 2001 Fiesta Zetec-SE I found this hiding between the driver's seat runners. What in the devil is it? Can't find anywhere that it could go. It is small - about an inch along either side. Any ideas?

Something to do with the seat belt clip/buckle/holder is my guess - I maybe incorrect though

That sounded like a good shout but I've had a look and there's nothing awry with any part of the seatbelt mechanism, top or bottom. Any other ideas anyone? I guess it's possible it's nothing to do with the car at all and just got in there somehow - but that seems a bit much.

Could it be a part of the 'safety clip' from the pretensioner from the seatbelt in case of an accident? I believe when you work on it your supposed to fit a clip so it doesn't go off on you

How big is it?

Can you show a comparison with a small coin?

I think it's the insides of a headrest height adjuster.

Those bits on the side are springs right?

I was just about to say it looks like a spring clip of sorts, Stoney could be right with the headrest .....

I agree with Clive - it's the head restraint height adjustment lock clip

Yep - well done chaps. It is from the rear passenger side head rest socket. It must have pinged out and ended up lodged in the gap next to the drivers seat rail. Mystery solved!

Pat on the back for clive the detective.lol
