Ford, Diagnostic Reader And Fault Light Reset?

Featured Replies

what diagnostic reader and fault light reset should i buy?

An ELM 327 cable (£6 ish) along with Forscan software (Free PC download) is popular for laptop use or a Bluetooth ELM 327 (£5 ish) with the Torque app (Free) for your phone. I think the Torque Pro app was around £3 from the Google Play Shop.

You can always use this type too for around £20 although it has less features. Its mostly for reading and reseting fault codes where as the Forscan and Torque Pro give more options.

I have one of these.

If your going to buy an elm get a modified one they are dearer but gives more options of talking to more of the vehicles ECU's.

Get Forscan and jobs a good un.

I have an Autel MS509 the older version of the second link you posted, tbh it's not that good for the price, yes it clears powertrain error codes and had manufacturer specific code definitions and reads some live data, but it does not do anymore than that on a multitude of vehicles I have used it on. With what it does on my Focus it does not show all error codes either as IDS picked up error codes the MS509 didn't.

For the money a modified ELM plus Forscan is the best you can get, almost as much functionality as an IDS clone.

At the end of the day anything that is cheap isn't going to be as good as dealer equipment, even my IDS clone only works on HSCAN and won't work on the MSCAN so thats why I have the Modified ELM and Forscan and Elmconfig.

just want something simple and easy

The one I shown you above is a simple one for £20 to read and clear fault codes.

Ignore the Cmax in the title, its the same reader for your Focus as detailed in the actual item description.
