2010 Focus Passenger Air Bag

Featured Replies

Hi,

I think I know the answer to this from other posts but is there any way of disabling the passenger air bag?

I've read that there were some issues with Ford/customers doing it so they don't supply the kits anymore but if it's just a case of wiring a Carling switch in somewhere then that wouldn't be so bad.

Is this at all possible?

Thanks

D

You need the PAD switch, PAD warning light and someone willing to activate the system.

Ford used to activate as long as you were willing to sign a disclaimer (and pay through the nose) but many Dealers wouldn't even offer the service.

Someone with access to an IDS kit should be able to do it.

The wiring is already positioned and the switch mounting point is present in the glovebox.

You must inform you're insurance also I'm afraid.... its not done mainly for safety obviously and it invalidates you're insurance most people do it to put kids in the front its proven they're safer in the rear

The light I've linked to is a mk2 unit (grey) but I've done this so you get the idea of what you require.

Some car models do come with PADS fitted as standard (e.g. Kia, Peugeot, Renault) and is available as a current option from Ford.

Thanks for answers and advice.

I'm aware of the problems of having the seat in the front but our infant really didn't like being in the back seat. Now she's a bit older, we're going to have a try at moving her out of the front! Save myself a few quid in the process, too.

Cheers,

D
