Ford Fiesta 13 Acdamp Smell

Featured Replies

Whenever i put on ac i get a damp smell like smelly socks

It's bacteria in the system / air vents - do you use it often ?

I always run a can of air con cleaner through the system every 12 months it stops any bad smels and kills off any bacteria.

I have seen on other post that pollen filter may need changing could it be same on my car?

We where on m25 and it on 2 and recirculation and ac on and on lowest temperature

Smell went whilst driving unless i got used to it

Hardly ever have mine on recirc, like fresh air and not stale air going round and round, try a can of anti bacterial air con treatment following instructions on can

I would change the odour/pollen filter if its not been done for a few years.

Recirculated air isn't helping

I assume it hasnt had a pollen filter change as is a 13 plate

Assume nothing & change the recirc setting to fresh air :)

Where is pollen filter and would i be able to see if it needs changing

It's buried under the dash and can be a pig to access (think scuffed knuckles and mucho swearing).

Only way to be sure is remove it.

I'd say it definitely needs doing though plus run a can of AC cleaner through too to renove bacteria etc.

Anyone know of a youtube vid or pictures of specification to do it

Easy, philip screwdriver or small flat blade, and a torx screwdriver or simular, takes all of 3 mins .

Drivers foot well, theres a console side trim panel that runs from clutch pedal area towards gear lever, need to remove the trim retainer either using screwdriver to unscrew centre of it or use flat bladed and lever the centre part of retainer clip. Then pull that panel away and at same time press clutch pedal down so you can rest panel between clutch pedal and brake pedal. That gives you plenty of room to remove the 1 or 2 torx screws depending on age from pollen filter cover,
