Another niggle sorted how?

Well first I removed the courtesy light loosened the screw holding in place the Ariel which was star fitting, then loosened the earth bolt near it which earths the interior lights, then I've used some soldering wire I suppose any wire will do and trapped it under the 2 points nipped them up and Hey Presto. The reception is near 100% now so thought I'd share incase it was driving anyone else mad.

would this work for dab ? i have terrible trouble in waiting for a dab signal

Thanks for posting that. I'm going to try that tomorrow, my radio signal is awful.

My wife's Renault has picked up crystal clear Irish channels when in pembrokeshire and French channels in Sussex, both obviously overseas radio stations. I can barely get LBC and I basically live in London.

I've posted before about the poor performance of my radio unit, a 6000 CD, in my 09 plate car. I believe it's a common problem and indicates the radio is very likely "built down to a price".

so basically you have made a better earthing point and this has made all the difference. with AL electrics, a really good earth makes a massive difference.

Audio guys who run big amp/sub set ups tend to upgrade the 'Big 3' :

Cable 1: Battery -ve to earth

Cable 2: Battery + ve to Alt +ve

Cable 3: Engine to earth

Great tip which I'll look at doing. I drove a hire car recently which had the whole antenna missing and it still had better reception than my Focus which I just put down to a crap OEM radio.
