Advise Dent On Rear Passenger Door Next To Front Door

Featured Replies

Hi I purchased a focus 3 weeks ago after the 182 1.6 zetec s... loving it by the way..

Anyways when i went to view the car in Chester i told the sales guy there's a dent and he said they will

sort it before i pick it up,and they didnt, because they didnt he said they will book it at ford in leicester,

went there today and the dent guy said because it on a bracket he is unable to remove it, instead they

are going to book it in with a body shop. I am worried they will fill it from the outside and sand it and

repaint it, its not a major dent or that visible to the eye, as i bought the car from a main dealer i would

expect these things to be sorted. they sound the car to elsewhere for bodywork. has anybody out

there had this kind of dent removed or shall i just leave it. please could you give advise what to do.

Thanks in advance

Well in my experience they have to paint the full side of the car or it stands out a mile and will drive you up the wall, happened to me with Reg Vardy once in the end after much arguing they did paint the full side !

A good body shop will blend the repair in on the panel that it is on then laquer that panel. Few paints need a whole side repainting these days. The repair area is blended out bit by bit to an area larger than the repair, then the whole panel is roughed up with a scotch pad then relaquered.

A bad body shop would repaint the whole side of the car for a small bit of damage.

Also most good body shops these days use the pulling methods to pull he dent out as much as possible then a light skin of filler to finish it off and make it level and smooth.
