Eac Fail 2003 Fiesta Black Edition

Featured Replies

Today I got the EAC Fail warning on the dashboard.

I had a loss of power from the accelerator and when I parked it up, it started revving up and down to about 2500 revs.

I turned it off and started it up again and everything is as normal as it was.

I have to add that I've had the warning light on for a few weeks (which I have been told is the lambda sensor) and the speedometer drops to 0 at least once a day which may or may not have been a sign.

Anyway, after some googling, I've read that a common "fix" is a total throttle replacement job which apparently doesn't fix anything and can cost an arm and a leg.

It looks to me like it could do with an ECU (or PCM) replacement? (Not knowing much about cars I don't know for sure but that's the consensus I have found poking around the web)

Does anyone know what sort of cost this would be? And would it be worth it?

Before anything, try cleaning the throttle body first as this cures the EAC fail most times. A garage might clean it if you asked but if you went to Ford they'll almost certainly 'sting' you for a new one!

I will try that then. I've got a couple of mates that might be able to sort me out if it's an easy job (I wouldn't know where to start myself haha).

Hopefully that will fix it.

Thanks for the advice.

I got this error on the old car when my battery was dead and the car had to be jumped. Once battery charged and car switched off it was fine once restarted & it was for a Month till I wrote it off
