Hardwired Dashcam & Sat Nav Mk2.5

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Not sure if it's been covered, I couldn't find it from a quick search anyway!

Basically, are there two available fuses to piggyback switched lives from to hardwire both things?

I've seen F108 is used for dashcam hardwire, but I'm not sure if any others are suitable? Also I take it a sat nav cable can be hardwired in the same way as the dash cam one? Electronics aren't my strong point!

Cheers

Tom

I got stoneys 12v socket added a double USB outlet piggybacked the socket to the fuse box and connected the dash cam etc into the 12v plug hidden in the glove box so they all come on with ignition and switch off stoney has a guide to wire it all and its pretty easy

Fuse 100/110 and 135 are all ignition live fuses i have hardwired mine in to 100

Just hardwired mine yesterday to fuse 100 (top left). Remember to put your fuses in the piggyback the right way.

Not sure where I got 108 from!

Anyway, thanks all, have done the dashcam today, to fuse 100, and all seems to be working. Will get another for the sat nav at some point. :)

Already had one hardwire kit Arthur, I didn't know about Stoney's one!

Some focus's u can use 108 as its cigarette lighter but when I tried it on mine and another mk2 there perm live I used 108 on my mam's mk1 I think for her dash camera

I make patch cables with 12v sockets on one end and a fusetap on the other.

10 minute job to install and it gives you an ignition switched socket hidden away under the dash or in the glovebox.

I also make ones that are permanent live which piggyback from the rear of existing sockets if preferred.

I took 2 USB feeds from the same piggyback fuse tap - just used a standard connector block as a splitter. Then I ran one cable round to the top of the windscreen for the dashcam and the other behind the dashboard to come out in the dashtop cubby for the satnav. The combined power of the two isn't very high so no problems with capacity.
