Folding Mirrors

Featured Replies

Hi all, Can I fit folding mirrors to my focus mk2is the wiring there or not????cheers chris...P.S. What is the name of the ford site that would tell me (think it starts with an E)...Chris

etis mate a think and duno if do folding mirrors on mk2 will only be st/rs if does

Folding mirrors can be installed even on Mk2, though you need to have door modules installed. If you have all 4 windows in electric, there's a chance you have compatible door modules installed. Then it's a matter of mirrors - they need to have motors to fold them...and, also, it's possible to reprogram the door modules to fold the mirrors automatically when you lock/unlock the car, but then you also need to have a special interface that's capable doing so.

me again could I just swop parts from an st/rs would they have to be from the same year as my mk2 or can you inter- change parts from one year to another ie will parts from a 09/10 fit a 07 car .... cheers chris...

I'm not sure about switching parts from facelifted Focus to a pre-facelift (maybe if your car is facelifted inside - red backlight & oval stereo), but there is a button that can be added to the door-opening handle, looks like this afterwards:

- zoom in on the door, you'll see the button...

FINIS 1329539 or 1472023

but I'm not sure about the wiring needed for this to be done...best way to figure it all out is to disassemble the door panel and see what all you have your car prepared for, and what not...if you have all 4 windows electric and have let's say heated mirrors, I believe there's a good chance that you have wires for folding hidden somewhere there as well. But you won't find out until you really just disassemble the door panel...after you know what you have there, then it's time to figuring out the installation and probably reprogramming the modules...

As a retro fit modification , operating the folding mirrors via a door switch will be alot simpler than programming the system to work via the key fob.

i cant remember where the wires go but its just 2 wires.1 from mirror to the module. and 1 from module to switch i think thats how i did it been a long while.i bought a mirror switch with interior scan included in one had to swap the ineard from the new to the old one, other wise the plug on the car wont go in the new one.

the folding with press of button ,you need a special adapter that plugs in the obd port and programs the module to fold your mirrors when pressing lock button .they did a group buy on st owners site .i got mine done took a few minutes .hth

The MK2 is different from the MK2.5.

The MK2 uses a seperate module to control the folding mirrors. The MK2.5 uses the door modules to control the folding mirrors.
