Lifting Engine Using A Jack

Featured Replies

Hi

I am going to change the driver side Lower Control Arm. However the Ac compressor is in the way. Read somewhere that on mazda 3 mps someone loosened the top engine mount and lifted the engine so the compressor goes up. giving enough space to do the job. The bolt that I am talking about is the forward 17mm bolt on the control arm.

My question, what should be the jacking point to lift the engine ?

Also what do you guys think of loosening the top mount ? The car is a mazda 3 2.0 2006. I ask here since I have got much more response on this form and excellent advise in the near past. Thanks all.

You can jack on the sump but need a block of wood to spread the weight across it.

I've never changed the arms on these so can't help there.

agreed, I would spread the load with a piece of wood and make the best out of it!
