1.6tdci Quite A Few Problems I Have Here.

Featured Replies

alright guys/girls. wondering if someone could please identify and tell me how i could get these 3 things sorted. i love the car but its becoming a real pain in the !Removed!.

1. ive got a 2010plate focus 1.6 tdci titanium thats done short of 144k...

Got a brand new clutch fitted into it about 3,000 miles ago but it seems to be quite "juddery" when pulling away & under heavy load. does anyone have any idea how it could be doing this ? the biting/moving point seems a little more higher now than it did when i first got it installed.

2. Keyless entry/Start button. Now and again the Car will not recognize the key at all. i can go to the front passenger side door and click the open button on the key and pull the handle then it recognizes the key again & will open the car & disarm the alarm. If i am quick enough i can press the start button to get the ignition on. Key has had several new Batterys in it so i know it cant be the power in the key fob. ( Bearing in mind this car has a igniton barrel but is completley useless as its like a fake barrel if anyone gets me ).

3. could be driving along and the car will feel as if its lost some power. the exhaust note gets stupidly Deeper & louder, turbo spools like f*ck and feels like its not giving its full. also noticed it blows black smoke under acceleration when in this"mode". it goes back to normal after a little while. i will upload a video or 2 that i managed to get about a week or 2 ago of it happening after i finish work tonight.

Cheers,

Andrew.

Does this car have a DPF ?

If it does it could either be full at that kind of total mileage or in need of a regeneration

Black smoke is indicative of an air / fuel imbalance resulting in incorrect / incomplete fuel combustion & can be caused by a number of root causes

Is the EML illuminating ?

Your key issue could be the transponder

Yes the car is the dpf version. I've thought that it could maybe be dpf regeneration but something is telling me it isn't. What's your thoughts on dpf removal if that is the case ?

Also no there is no eml light on. Just to add, when I put the clutch to the floor and Rev it, the Rev counter drops to like 300rpm and bounces back up to around 1500/2000 rpm.

I'm using the forum on a internet browser through my phone so not sure on how to upload a few videos I managed to get when it was happening.

I can't advise on DPF removal as it's illegal - so that's your call

No EML / codes make me think it's more mechanical than anything else & as the clutch was only recently done, that's a possible as the symptoms you describe could well be caused by an iffy clutch or driveshafts or C.V. joints

Think you need hands & eyes on from a decent mechanic

Thanks for your help mate

If you've got any idea of what's been done in previous services it'd help out a little. Otherwise a brief DIY service will help - certainly flushing & changing the oil, as well as changing fuel, oil and air filters - probably do the lot for around 50 quid.

Also invest in a code reader (modified ELM327) on eBay or Amazon, you'll be able to read any fault codes that come up; quite a few will flag yet not light the MIL. Plus you can take it for a drive with a laptop plugged in and see what happens to things like fuel rail pressures with Forscan live.

Car got serviced not too long ago and there are no fault codes in the ecu. That was the first thing I done. it can just happen out of the blue when I'm driving normally on main roads and motorways.

Your sig pic is a bit big lol.

Number 1 - I've got annoying clutch judder as well. It's really bad in the morning due to condensation on the DMF, causes it to slip a bit and that's perfectly normal. But it's still there the rest of the time and I can't find any reason for it, guessing it's just a 'quirk' of this car/engine, can never get a clean pull away in first gear myself. Did you have the DMF changed with the clutch?

Number 2 - No idea on that one.

Number 3 - Sounds like a DPF regen, I would expect the smoke to be more grey or brown but everthing else sounds like a regen.
