Speedo Drops To Zero

Hi guys bit of advice please I've got a 1.8 focus petrol the Speedo kept dropping to zero and stereo would go louder then quite then engine would cut out I was told I needed a new sensor so I had that replaced and all was fine for the last 8 month but now it's doing it again what would cause the sensor to keep going is it worth fixing as its a 2001 car so not worth much

    Check the plug and wiring to the sensor for corrosion and damage.
