Focus Mk1 Excessive Exhaust Play

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Recently purchased a 2004 MK1 Ford Focus and at this point have changed a whole number of trivial parts on it that i really should have looked that they were working before hand but you live and learn (Rear wiper motor, radiator fan, couple of bulbs, etc.)

Hhowever i have just noticed that the exhaust has started banging a bit (this has started since i've had the car) and have come to this conclusion from it sounding like a low pitched thud if the car sways excessively while in motion. It also seems that the exhaust has an excessive amount of play when wobbled by hand when stationary (5cm movement).

Any ideas where i should start looking? I've tried looking in my haynes but there isn't many pictures that point out where the mount points are that i should be looking at.
