Egr Fault Code

Featured Replies

Afternoon all.

I've recently acquired a mk2 focus on a 56 plate. The engine management light is currently on and showing a fault with the egr valve. The car drives faultlessly though. No flat spots misfires or smoke. I have installed an egr blanking plate hoping that would solve it and after clearing the code with a generic code reader the light goes out but comes back on a short while later. Fair codes are P0406 and P0409. Any help greatly appreciated!

Cheers

which engine?

Both these codes are normally associated with the electrical side of the EGRV & not the mechanical parts - you may have to either put up with them & delete the EML periodically, or buy a new EGRV

Try unplugging the electrical EGRV connector & inspect for corrosion & when reconnecting ensure the connection is tight

Blanking the EGRV hasn't worked because the issue is likely to be electrical & not mechanical

Knew there was something I was forgetting. It's a 1.8 tdci. Is the electrical connective on the top right of the egrv if you're looking at it from the engine bay? If so I have already checked this and there looks to be no sign of corrosion and it's tight.
