New Car Woes

Featured Replies

So today was the day, the delivery of my brand new Fiesta!

It arrived promptly at 9am, good start I thought! There were 2 guys in 2 different Fiestas - they started off by trying to give me the wrong car, when I told them mine was the other one they asked 'are you sure?'...this did not bode well, they were completely different models and colours for a start.

Then he walks me to the right car, first think I notice is a white scratch on the wing mirror - so I'm already slightly annoyed, then I look at the rest of the car and it's covered in like a dirt/dust mixture, like someone's attempted to clean it with a dirty rag - not great, but I was taking it for a 'new car detail' this afternoon, so I wasn't too bothered about that.

So they added the remarks about the damage and overall condition on the paperwork and left, I contacted the leasing company and advised them of the damage and emailed some pictures, they were quite shocked and promised to get it resolved.

Then this afternoon, the sun came out and revealed a mass of swirl marks all over the car on every single panel - the initial shock then turned in to rage, so I took more photos and at that stage noticed there was a dry water line under one of the washer jets all the way down the bonnet and the bottom of the washer jet was wet, so it's leaking. Brilliant.

The leasing company have promised to liaise with Evans Halshaw to get everything put right, but it's extremely frustrating.

On the upside, it's the nicest car I've ever driven. I have the Powershift gearbox and I was a bit worried with some of the comments and problems I've read about on here, but it's ridiculously smooth changing - absolutely seamless in fact! I'm also glad I went for Titanium X trim. It's a lovely car to be in, just not to look at right now!

Ahh I hope you get it sorted, nothing like that to kill your new car excitement. I got put off by Evans Halshaw when i was looking for a new fiesta so didnt go with them, Had my new fiesta a week now and it is really impressive to drive.

Personally i wouldn't have accepted the car in that condition, especially if it's brand new, you should expect it to be in perfect condition, no scratches and clean. :(
