How To Connect Phone To Ford 6000cd

Featured Replies

Hello,

I recently bought a 2008 Ford Focus, and I have some issues with the stereo. Firstly, I would like to ask you guys how to connect the phone to the car (since there are 2 buttons on the stereo, dial and end conversation). Also, currently it has a jack line in aux, is it possible to install a usb one for this type of stereo?

Thank you in advance for the help!

The stereo is a 6000cd

Phone connectivity was optional on the Focus MK2/MK2.5. This requires the optional Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system. This is a separate system that communicates with the radio over the CANbus network. Whether the car does or does not have the optional Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system can easily be determined by the radio stalk. Cars with Bluetooth/Voicecontrol do have a VOICE button on top of the radio stalk. On cars without Bluetooth/Voicecontrol the phone buttons on the radio act as mute buttons. If a Bluetooth/Voicecontrol module is connected the phone functions and menu of the radio will be active.

On the Focus MK2.5 the USB functionality is fully controlled by the Bluetooth/Voicecontrol module. This was an extra option on top of the optional Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system. Bluetooth/Voicecontrol with USB, Ipod and Bluetooth Audio support is officially called the Ford Sound & Connect system. The Ford Sound & Connect system can only be combined with the original MK2.5 Sony radio's and Travelpilot FX and NX sat nav radio's. The 6000 CD does only support Bluetooth/Voicecontrol and no Sound & Connect.

Hello Wilco,

Thank you for the fast answer. Your post brought up more questions. It is now clear that only the stereo has the phone buttons, which are there for fashion purposes (until now). Is there a way to easily install the Bluetooth/Voicecontrol for the car? And is it recommended?

The Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system can be retrofitted without any problems. However the parts needed to retrofit this system are very expensive. Ford offers a complete kit containing all needed parts but this kit costs a fortune. Next to this the Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system is no longer supported by Ford. The latest compatibility update of this system was released in 2012. Because of this some newer phones can have compatibility issues.

Personally I would not bother to install the original Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system. A decent aftermarket Bluetooth Carkit will be much cheaper and have better functionality.

Could you recommend anything that would work at a good price? I am looking at multiple options, but to the eyes of the unknowing everything looks good.

I installed a Pioneer Fx-700bt head unit into my car. It required the steering wheel adapter and an aerial adapter, but otherwise fitting was simple. (And a fascia adapter)

Cd player, Bluetooth phone functionality and auto playback, iPod/iPhone control functionality, etc.

Take a look at the Parrot MKI9200 kit.

Bluetooth A2DP and usb/card interfaces as standard.
