Sensors + Maintenance

Featured Replies

We all know that from time to time sensors can get dirty and cause problems and can just fail as well. I was thinking about regularly cleaning whatever sensors (if possible) I can access on my car to try help prevent this (maybe as apart of the annual service ect).

So maybe we could get a list of sensors for each focus engine that are able to be cleaned or tested and made a guide to help clean them.

this may help to solve or prevent issues in the future or may help to diagnose any issue someone may have.

So Does anyone know any senors on the mk2.5 1.6 zetec than can be cleaned from time to time just for maintenance reasons?

I cant seem to fin a MAF sensor on it only the sensor inside the throttle body I take it this is an air sensor?

also can the crank/cam sensor be cleaned and the lamba sensor?

Thanks

:)

To be honest sensors unless theres a fault are best left alone cleaning I tampering with them can cause issues not prevent them

Aye if it aint broke don't fix it.

Simples.

Fair point fellas. Will most sensors throw a code if faulty and is there any way/guides to test sensors with multimetets ect?

At the moment I have a little power lose but no codes are showing. I did reset the pcm values which has helped a but so I was thinking maybe cleaning some of the air sensors ext to see if it helps.
