Mk2.5 Ehpas Leak

Featured Replies

Hi all,

EHPAS bottle is covered in fluid, and theres a reasonable amount on the front undertray as well. I havent had to top it up in the year I've owned it but probably should - I assume regular PAS fluid is fine?

But more importantly, are there any common faults/leaks to cause this? Faulty cap maybe?

Cheers

Tom

So, does no-one elses leak or do you all just ignore it?

I don't even know where the bottle is, so I have never checked it. I didn't think the mk2.5 focus had one. If you tell me where to look I will happily check mine and get back to you on opinion!

Regular is fine yes

Not aware of any issues to be honest its possible it was overfilled or as you say the caps leaking

Should be the green p/s fluid , not red, or I think it is. Can check later.

Definatly green to ford spec, WSS-M2C204-A2

Hmm, it's red on my undertray!

Ben, if you have EHPAS (not all the 2.5s do afaik) the bottle is under the drivers side headlight, or from underneath its just above the small front undertray. You can't see it without removing something either way unfortunately.

Ah ok I will look in next couple of days thank you

Note the red drip on the bolt head on that pic, it corresponds to the red on the undertray

Also think my phone got the end of the film roll...where do I stick another?

I can't actually tell what colour the fluid in the bottle is, or where the level markers are, will have to clean it up another day! I did notice that there are breather holes on the cap though, so maybe this is normal to spray a bit?

  • Author

What do we reckon then? Normal breather leak? Wrong fluid?

I don't know if its normal or not but mine looks the same, its almost like its weeping fluid rather than leaking, I have similar oil build up on other things such as my silicone tubes but theres no obvious leaks and nothing needs topped up, might be worse than it looks, perhaps it attracts crap, when in turn attracts fluid which drips.

I might clean mine up an monitor it a bit more closely.

Got your ECU back yet?

Ah ok, at least it's not just me then!

Do they have a low fluid warning anyway? I'll just wait for that to come on.
