Engine Managment Light

Featured Replies

overtaking a wagon tonight on a dual carriage way i noticed my engine light came on a red cog with a ! inside it came on at 70 mph i pulled over stopped the engine and restarted it the light went of untill i built up my speed again to 70 it came back on, it took 2.2k revs t get to 40 in 3rd gear and 4k revs to get to 70mph. was told the turbo was replaced almost a year ago when i bought the car. any ideas what it could be im hoping the turbo hasnt gone again its a costly repair so im told. any help will be much appreciated.

its a 55 plate focus 1.6 tdci estate

It could be lots of things so to narrow it down you will need to get a code reader on it to see what has been logged. Hopefilly its just a cheap sensor or loose/split hose etc. You can get OBD2 code readers from around £15 on ebay.

just been round the block and the engine whistles when driving so im presuming its the turbo cant imagine what its gonna cost to fix

Possibly a split / leaking intercooler to turbo hose

there doesnt seem to be any loss of power just this whistle but havent had it to 70 this morning to be sure i dont damage it any more

Turbos do whistle to an extent. Some whistle more than others. A whistle unless it is very loud is usually nothing to worry about. Can you get s video of the noise and upload it for us to try and hear it?
