Erisin Es7089f Gps Draining Battery??

Featured Replies

Google brought me to this forum with this post http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/38048-ford-focus-mk2-st3-sony-6cd-wiring-please-help/

I bought this GPS on ebay to replace my inbuilt navi http://www.ebay.de/itm/131036629825 fitting it was straight forward and no issues here. I left the car in the garage overnight with the new GPS built in, in the morning the motor started no issue. I played with the GPS settings for about 1 hour, and afterwards tried to turn over the motor to drive back into garage. Dead. Father inlaw was called to help jumpstart, and only after disconnecting GPS until would the motor even start.

Here is a pic of the QUADLOCK. It's wired wrong? Yellow cable needs to be one PIN lower? I am no expert, but I hope that someone here can give some sound advice.

I am hoping the 'low battery' is also the reason for the display flickering when the headlights are on too. Or is this the next issue? Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpXyz30Q0ZI

Many thanks. Mike

If you already have a weak battery then playing with the stereo for an hour could well flatten the battery.

Quite a few of these Shenzen no-hopes have been reported draining car batteries, and in nearly all cases it was down to shoddy soldering of the internal components causing shorts. I'd suggest eliminating that first by removing it from the car and hooking it up to a bench power supply (you can use a PC power supply for this) and checking for current leakage with a multimeter. Or finding a savvy friend to do it for you if you're not that way inclined :)

Screen flickering wont be from a low battery but from sn internal issue as said soldering or dodgy circuit boards or both

Thanks for the replies. I am going on holiday tomorrow, so no time to measure the resistance in the gps or to measure for current drain. Thankfully the Chinese seller has now given me an RMA number, and I hope for a full refund including return postage. Moral of the story, don't buy cheap on ebay ???

Does anyone have an opinion about the Aurora2 ??? http://www.icar-tech.de/shop/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=437 also made in China but substantially more expensive.
