High Clutch, Replacement Needed?

Featured Replies

Hi all, It got a 06 plate Focus Lx with 90k on the clock.

Now as the title says, the clutch is quite high, to the point I need to touch the accelerator to hold it on a hill.

It doesn't seem to slip and apart from the biting point being quite high all is good.

I've spoke to a family friend who said it's on its way out and would need to replace it but doesn't have to be ASAP. Just looking at how much it would be and if it's an easy job? Cheers

A Lot of the fords so have high biting points on clutches. with the mileage at 90k there is a chance is might need changed but to be honest if it is not slipping I would leave it and get a wee while longer from it, but from hearing from the guys on this forum the biting points can be high as I had this worry when I bought my focus at the start.

Hope this helps.

mines exactly the same fella . looking through the forum seems to be quite common .

A high biting point seems quite normal on them, however I would expect around £300-£350 for a replacement when the time comes. Until then I would keep driving it until you do start to feel it slipping.

perfectly normal even after a new clutch it sets the bite point back to high

Cheers for the replys, a bit of good news then. I take it there is no way of lowering it?

No I don't think so I think they are self adjusting so keep resetting themselves to a high bite point. Don't worry fella all is fine lol! :)

Agreed, my mk2.5 is fairly high, with 130k on original clutch. It doesn't concern me in the slightest.
