Diesel Air Intake

Featured Replies

Showing my age a little I seem to remember that a few years ago, when there was a lot of flooding, there were a lot of problems when the owners of diesel cars drove through flooded roads and water was drawn through the air intake and into the engine which immediately wrote it off.

Aparently the air intake was positioned fairly close to the bottom of the engine. Is this still the case, or is it positioned more safely ?

I think that depends on the type of car / manufacturer

It was a serious question, I was not suggesting that you fit a snorkel to a Ford Focus, but as the flooded road season looms I wanted to know where the air intake is located.

I would be interested in knowing this for the same reason. (I have mk3 focus)
