Burning Smell

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Bit of a tricky one to do but thought id throw it to the net and see what folk may think.

Was sat in heavy traffic for the first time since having the car and few times got a bit of a burning smell.Obviously was a bit worried and remember a couple of other times in the past week had a faint whiff of the rubbery almost electrical type burning smell . Traffic got moving after 3 miles of heavy accident built up traffic and smell went away.

Got home and popped bonnet to have a look around in the dark with inspection light . No sign of smoke or anything but did have a smell around the belt area and had a bit of the burning rubbery smell to it . Belts all looked ok though from what i could see . Now i wasnt riding the clutch as far as i could tell so dont think it was that but anyone any ideas ? I really am puzzled!!!

No leaks of oil or anything that i could see but wasnt an oil burning smell, very belt like.

Thanks guys!

Jon
