Ford Focus Mk2 Central Locking Issue

Hi guys I'm new to the Ford scene and just been given a Mk2 Focus 1.6 but there is a problem with the passenger front door central locking. When the car is locked the passenger side front door will lock ok but it won't unlock. The only way I can get it to unlock but not every time is to open the drivers door and press the lock button on the fob then this will trigger it to lock then unlock rapidly. I have removed the door panel but there seems to be a big metal panel behind that isn't removable to access the locking mechanism.

Does anyone know a fix for this please?

    Is your central locking perhaps configured to unlock just the drivers door.

    Do you need to press the unlock button twice to unlock the passenger door
