Impact Camera Thingy

Featured Replies

Not sure if it's the right section...

But I've got the impact prevention camera thing behind the mirror at the front, is it possible to modify in some way so that it records onto a memory card and is then visible on a pc etc, only like for the first 10secs, a bit like dashcam

Highly doubt it.

Wouldn't recommend modifying safety features that have control of the brakes...

Well I just thought because it's a camera, why can't it have an extra wire attached to it so it records onto an SD card. Surely that wouldn't affect how it does anything

It is a digital LIDAR sensor. All comms will be via can or LIN. It will not have a video out feed.

If you have the driver assist pack then I'm pretty sure that uses a standard camera for lane assist and sign recognition, probably still digital with no video out feed.

A dash cam seems a lot simpler and less expensive?

I've got both of them so could that be in the same place behind the mirror? Because there is a camera there, which is why I thought it was the impact prevention thingy as I didn't know that was a sensor. Never researched Dashcam prices until just and they seem cheap enough so may as well get one of them. Thanks for your help though :-)

Yeah the camera is for the driver assist pack. So the car can read traffic signs and see where the road markings are.
