Hi James, I had a remap done and that what was used to do it ,was just wondering if it would be worth buying one

Depends what your going to be doing, and if you are planning on buying a clone or genuine. Unless you are going to be doing a lot of remaps, its not really a great benefit. You could fork out a few hundred quid on one, or thousands for a genuine, but if your not really going to use it, other than the odd diagnostic here and there, your not really getting bang for your buck. On the other hand, if you charge you mates a few quid and do a bit of a remap (hoping you are comfortable you know what you are doing, or have premaps made and ready) then you could at least reduce the overall cost of the unit,.

was thinking of just for fault finding and code reading, I've got a Chinese copy autel but it's not much cop

Might be a bit expensive for a code reader but how much are they?

Only Kess I've ever heard of was Craig David's Falcon in the Channel 4 series of Bo Selecta 😅

On a serious note though;

If remapping ecu or adjusting perimeters yourself there's a high risk of burning pistons or at worst blowing engine but if your experienced then shir will be fine.

the ones from china are about50/70 and am not sure what the genuine ones are. Is there a good code reader anybody would recommend

If you just want a code reader for your ford, click my guides in my signature, then look at "got an error on your car". I have a load of detail there.

I would highly recommend for comprehensive ford / mazda diagnostics, FORSCAN and a modified elm cable - cost around £15 for hardware, software is free.
