Interior Light Staying On When Lock Doors

Interior light works when I put key in ignition, goes off when I start engine , when I stop and take key out it comes on but when I lock door it doesn't go out.

Any idea why this could be?

    Does the door open light come on on the instrument panel when the door is open ?

    I'm not sure. I've took battry off for the day while I'm in work and will put it back on when I go home and check
