Ford Focus 1.8Tdci Engine Splutter.

Featured Replies

I'm hoping someone on here can give me some advice on problem I have or have experienced the same thing... I have a 09 1.8tdci Titanium Focus, at 1800-2000 revs the engine splutters almost like it's gonna cut out & it seems to get worse as the engine warms up, it has had an engine flush & oil/filter change & a diagnostic test with no faults... still had same issue, it has then had under warranty one of the fuel injectors changed as it was unusually noisy & yet another diagnostic test, no faults as before but surprise surprise still got same issue... don't really know what to do now... help... anyone!

When was the fuel filter last changed?

About 5 months/3.5k miles ago.

When did the problem become apparent ?

Was it a genuine Fraud filter ?

I've only had car for 4wks, when I bought it it was fine on test drive (I assume because engine was cold) & came back on motorway no problem (runs fine when over the 2k revs), over the next few days I started noticing the problem.

Possibly the fuel filter.Start adding a fuel additive every time you fill up,if you don't already.Happened to me and haven't looked back since.

Right I have had a new filter fitted, old one was pretty dirty, still getting spluttering 1.8/2k revs, no warning lights, previous diagnostic checks are all clear... any ideas?

How do you use your car?Short trips to the shops and work or longer. From my experience the longer the journeys the better the car will run.
