Jacking Points - Ka Mk2 2009 1.2 Petrol

Featured Replies

This seems to be a scarcely documented subject online and the official car manual under 'jacking the car; just tells you to take it to a garage. Useful manual that is.

The only mention of this online is that you follow the door hinge line down to where the paintwork meets the frame and there should be a rectangle underneath at that point.

I have had a good look there, and there is no such thing...the only thing in sight seems to be a very thin frame which runs the entire length of the car.

Can anyone help in the matter? I'm only looking at removing the wheel...i won't be working under the car. I have an hydraulic jack with 2 jack stands.

if your using a trolly jack look under the body just rear of the front wheel there is a bolted on plate there with a bolt in it that supports the front wishbon(lower suspension arm)

i put my trolly jack on that point . dont use a trolly jack on the sill thats only for the jack that comes with the car as it will fit over the thin welded point of the sill that you mentiond

Cheers for your quick reply. I'll take a look in the morning, can't find my torch anywhere.

Can I use the sill to place the jack stands then? Or is that also not advised?

EDIT: Can i just confirm its this bolt in the centre of this picture... (I'm not sure why the image uploading site has flipped this picture)

i would jack up on the bolt then put the axel stand on the plate next to the jack and lower onto stand but keep the jack inplace. if only changing a wheel then you dont need to use a stand just a jack will be fine.

on your picture you can also jack up on the main beam that the bolt is going into as thats a solid lump or put the jack on the beam then stand on the plate where the bolts are.

y can also use the cars jack on the sill. look on your picture and the location for the cars jack in a triangle notch a few inches from the mud flap

Bump an old thread,

Weres the best place to jack up the front of a Ford Ka MK2 so both wheels are off the floor. I need to change both wishbones at the same time so jack up 2 stands either side
