Battery Light Problem

Featured Replies

I have a 2001 ford focus se, with the 2.0 SPI 5 speed. I replaced the alternator and battery but battery light stays on runs perfectly fine! To find out the battery fuse 10a under the hood keeps blowing.. As soon as I put one in it blows... I'm not sure what's causing it.. Has anyone had this experience?

Sounds like bad wiring. What is the alternator in there, is it a smart charge unit?

I suspect you have a short circuit somewhere which is shorting out and blowing the fuse. I dont recall the exact fuse, but I thought it was a 15 amp, but I could be wrong.

Nope its a 10a for split port engine and nope not a smart charge unit... And I thought same.. So I unplugged alternator etc and replugged it etc.. So its somewhere...

It should be smart charge I believe as the smart charge system was released in 1998.
