Question About Engine Swap 1.8 To 2.0 (Duratec)

Featured Replies

Hello everybody! I was wondering if you guys could help me list all things that is needed for a engine swap from a duratec 1.8 HE (the FFV, the flex fuel version of the 1.8 L duratec-HE modified to run on E85) to a duratec 2.0 HE (Q7DA to AODA)

Correct me if I'm wrong but the MTX75 is needed as the 1.8 uses the iB5, right (and the correct driveshafts)? a 2.0 ecu? the fuelpump? but what about the wiring loom, how big different is it?

Please help :)

Big difference the gearboxes for one are a different size as the 1.8 uses the ib5 the air intakes are in different places the ecu the keys the wiring loom the driveshaft the brakes disks and hubs front and rear pretty sure theres more as well its far easier to replace like for like

hi, thanks for a fast answer! Are you sure about the air intake? Because on pictures the 2,0 looks identical to the 1,8. Maybe its a difference between the USA one and european one? Maybe I'm wrong :)

On the 1.8 I may be wrong but I was sure the air intake and air box were different I cant confirm that right now but if you have pics that show the same location then you might be all right

2.0 and 1.8 are virtually identical, the stroke is the same, just the bores are larger, even the valves are the same in head, slight diffetennces in cams, but as for swapping, I betting everything in wiring loom the same, no reason why you couldnt reuse everything off 1.8, except for ecu, injectors and such.
