Mk1 Focus Fuel Computer

Featured Replies

Right I'm after a definitive answer to this.

My 2002 (facelift) mk1 focus doesn't have the fuel computer that goes to the left of the instrument cluster (the only thing this car doesn't have)

1. Will the wiring be there for it?

2. Is it then just plug and play?

Cheers

the fuel/board computer of the focus MK1/MK1.5 consists of the following parts:

* Fuel/board computer unit.

* Instrument cluster bezel with mounting hole for the fuel/board computer.

* Outside air temperature sensor (mounted behind the front bumper).

* Washer fluid sensor.

* Indicator stalk with "INFO" button.

The wiring for this system is fully integrated into both the interior and engine bay wiring loom. Generally this wiring (or a part of it) will only be present if the car has other options that require a high spec wiring loom. Cars without such options do often have a lower spec wiring loom which does not have the wiring for the fuel/board computer. The only way to make sure the car does or does not have the wiring is by checking it. If the car has the wiring the fuel/board computer connector will be taped to the interior wiring loom behind the instrument cluster. The temperature sensor will be taped to the engine bay wiring loom behind the front bumper. If present both connectors can be well hidden.

Note that the mk1 and mk1.5 fuel/board computer are a little different. However they are technically fully compatible and interchangeable.

Ah okay, so I need to remove the instrument cluster surround and have a look behind. Mine has heated seats, a/c and everything so I'm guessing it might be there. Didn't know I needed the stalk so thanks.

Now got a nice little shopping list!

Right well I've had a good look and all I can find is this. Obviously isn't what I'm looking for but was wondering if that's there does it mean the one I need is?
