Mk2.5 Focus Start Button On Centre Console

Featured Replies

I'm assuming the start button is a momentary non-latching switch. How many poles and how throws does it have?

I've been offered a Mk2.5 Focus titanium centre console by breaker but instead of the aux power socket between the cup holder and gear gaiter, it has a start button.

Having researched in the forum archives as to whether or not it's good idea to move the starter circuit to a button; given that you still need the key in position two - it's not an upgrade that really achieves anything.

So, I was wondering, what could I use that switch to do, if i buy this console, and leave it where it is.

If you remove the switch you could purchase the adaptor ring and a power socket then wire it in to give you a handy 12v supply as is standard on non start button models.

If you want I will dig out the Finis code for the adaptor ring and link you to the correct 12v socket.

I'm a dab hand at doing socket wiring looms too :)

I'm happy to make a splice cable if you want one for a reasonable cost, it simply plugs in between the original socket in the dash and it's power cable and then hooks up to the new socket (bear in mind that the 2.5 has a rear socket too under the armrest so would need wiring too for full functionality).

(T connector for new socket in place of wired on one in this picture)

Thanks Clive, that's very thorough :) :)

This particular Mk2.5 console also has a USB and phone pocket (for want of a better name) under the armrest next to aux power socket - the breaker hasn't replied to my offer yet, but then I guess he's not going at the weekend

Splice loom would be excellent, I'll let you know, if/when I get it :)

If you do want a cable give me a shout.

I'm away from home until just before Christmas but will be free before new year.

For reference, the silver ring is about £7.50 from Ford.

The breaker accepted my offer, so I should have sometime it after Friday (3-day courier)

So, I'll naturally take up your offer to make a bespoke cable splice, whenever it's convenient for you to make it :)
