Drivers Door Compatability Estate/hatchback

Hello all,

I have a 2005 Mk 2 estate with a damaged drivers door.

Will a door from a hatchback fit?

I have seen a few on ebay-but all for sallons-they look the same-but any advice would be appreciated.

    I could be wrong, but as far as I can tell, the front doors on the Hatch, Saloon and Estate should all be the same in 5 door form.

    The Saloon I would imagine has all the same doors as a 5 door Hatch as the saloon basically has an extra bit of boot fitted past the c pillar in effect other than that up to the C pillar should be identical.

    The estate is the one where things are usually different as the rear doors are usually specific to the estate version of a car because of the increased roof height further along the back of the car. Although I suspect the Estate version may still use the same doors as the hatch as they look very similar in shape.

    The only other difference I do know is a 3 door will have longer doors due to not having rear doors so they will almost certainly only fit a 3 door.
