62 Plate Mk3 Focus Zetec Estate

Featured Replies

Hello all - usual apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.

Just picked up a 62 plate zetec estate. Happy with the purchase and looking for some advice on a couple of things which are more a minor inconvenience than anything else.

Wipers: my previous car was a cmax style and the wipers stopped when the car was stationary. Is it possible to set this up on my focus?

Auto dimming rear view mirror: Is this difficult to fit - I assume the wiring is already there under the plastic covers on the windshield?

Voice control: My r/h/s steering wheel switch has the voice control icon in the middle and I can't seem to get the voice contol to change mode to CD player or radio. For example, if I'm istening to the radio and press the voice control button I can go to the phone, usb or aux in but I can't change
to the cd player as there's no option to say it.

As I said, minor things which I could easily live without, but would be handy if they could be set up without too much bother.

Any advice would be appreciated.

If your car does not have an automatic dimming rear view mirror it has the standard windscreen wiper system without rain sensor (automatic windscreen wipers). On the standard windscreen wiper system it is not possible to change anything. It only has an interval timer with several timer settings.

The original automatic dimming rear view mirror is always combined with the automatic windscreen wipers and the automatic light functions. These functions can be retrofitted but to do this you need the following parts:

* Windscreen with the correct mirror and sensor mounts.

* Rain/light sensor assembly.

* Rain/light sensor housing.

* Automatic rear view mirror.

* Wiring looms. There is a big chance that the wiring is missing.

Next to this the car must be reconfigured to activate these functions.

I assume your car does have the newer SYNC 1.0 system instead of the old Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system. On the SYNC 1.0 system it is no longer possible to control the radio, CD-player, Climate Control and Sat-Nav functions by Voice. The Voicecontrol function on this system can only control the media related functions like Phone, USB, AUX and Bluetooth.

Thanks for the advice - wee bit disappointing but not missing anything essential. Just need to soldier on without them....

Cheers

I might be wrong on this, but it sounds like your car has had a replacement steering wheel/airbag - my 62 titanium still has the voice control switch as part of the telephone switch group behind the steering wheel - certainly not on the spoke
