[Mk2.5] 1.8 Tdci Water Temperature

Hi,

can someone tell me the normal temperatures of the 1.8 TDCI in a Mk2.5 Focus?

But i mean the real temperature.. So not the gauge in the dash. I want the real temperature which you can read with a obd device..

Mine is (outside temp. ~0-5°C) at normal driving (60mph) between 65-75°C.

Was wondering if this is normal (Dash-gauge shows as usual steady 88°C.. thought a broken thermostat would affect the gauge).

Greetings

Real temp of what? coolant which is what the gauge on the dash attempts to display, or oil?

Coolant...

But not the gauge in the dash... thats not the real coolant temperature! its a calculated value and it's centered once it's at 88°C.

So you have to read the >real< coolant temperature via obd

No is the answer, should keep warming( will take longer in winter) until the thermostat opens at around 88c , then cold radiator coolant will start to circulate, and thermostat will close again, reapeating this.

So, 88 to 90 normal

okay, so my thermostat seems to be broken..?

but i touched the upper water pipe to the coolant after about 10km.. it was freezing cold

btw: after 15-20km i have 60 °C and after 25km its always between 65-75.

after i drive 5km with 200-210kmh then it raises to 88°C and never goes higher. then it sinks to 65-75 when driving normal again

Dont know how long your car will take to get to get thermostat to open, the colder the temp of coolant before engine is started the longer and more km to warm up.

An example is my car, I have petrol 1.0 ecoboost and with outside temp of 10c it takes 7 miles(11km? ) to get to 90c, diesels normally take longer
