brooks52
Hi AllI bought a 2009 1.8 TDCI a few months back and have had multiple issues with it. I'll start by listing what I have done:Fuel Filter, Air Filter, oil Filter, oil, TerraClean (snakeoil...),injector 4 replaced, EGR blanked with a solid plate, replaced the rightangle turbo pipe as was cracked. The issue is around 1800-2200 RPM the car runs like crap. It startsjerking, hardly responds to throttle adjustment and occasionally losesall power and gives engine malfunction warning. When that happens I haveno choice to stop and restart a few times to clear before power comesback. Also I can blip the throttle in neutral and all is fine, but thenother times nothing happens until I hold for a second or two. This alsomeans when pulling out sometimes I have no power for a split second! When injector 4 was replaced it got a bit better and seemed to stopmalfunctioning, but it did get a lot louder and rattles more. It was oklike that for about 1 month, now it has thrown a wobbler (malfunctionedand died) again and I am getting the same error code in injector 3!Local mechanic is stumped and he even tried his Ford Technical helplineand they could only suggest EGR as before injector 4 was replaced at1800rpm it would fire out a load of crappy thick grey smoke until revswent up or down.I really like the car but I don’t want to end up throwing thousands at it, has anyone had issues like this before?EDIT: Car only has 32,000 miles and I always use Shell fuel.Would it be best to go to Ford Dealership or a Diesel Specialist? iantt
Think you have partially answered your post, another injector failing, not unusual. But also, there is an injector recalibration for your symtoms depending on your car build date and emmision level and injector code. Find out your build date on ford etis

iantt
Your car is in affected build dates, do you have old injector? Easier to read numbers off in your hand, or if not your going to have to try with existing ones. The image is not from your type of injector but gives you an idea where to look for number, number will either end in 2 or 3, 3 is the affected injectors. Not saying a pcm update will cure your faults as it was mainly for hot engine and under light load.but if it is your symptoms then it will be worth an update after putting injector 3 in. Ford dealer for the update.

Do you think its worth getting the update or just replacing all injectors with a different batch nimber? Booked it in with Ford for Monday morning anyway :|
iantt
As you have booked in with ford, just mention about pcm updates regarding injectors with number 3 , when they go to check for update it will give them options on which update to install. Get them to check the number on injector 4 is correct for your car also.
