Straight Pipe From Turbo

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Was wondering if its possible to fit a straight pipe from the turbo to replace the DPF downpipe. would it still run fine until i get it remapped ?

It'll be very obviously illegal for MOT... Or even worse if you're pulled by DVSA. An alternative is cutting open the DPF can, removing the insides and welding it up again...of course that is only for off road use though. ;)

Yes it would run without the map, but it's not a good idea, will flag up fault codes, and may put you into limp mode (seems to be luck whether on not these go into limp with no DPF IME).

you know what bugs me the most about the DPF can, is that right angle bend that is clearly restricted.

As already said, you cant just take it out and expect to pass an MOT, you need to get creative with fixing DPFs these days ;)

I had a DPF blockage that required fixing. However I opted for the cut and smash filter out. Weld back shut and remap option. £300 bout going rate. That turns off DPF. The eloys fluid tank and egr valve. (No need to blank off) and resulting in 140bhp and slightly better fuel economy. Pulled stronger than ever. Pass MOT no problem. Ran for over a year happy as anything.

But if you replace with cheap DPF they have less platinum in for filtering and block over and over again at £250 just for filter never mind the labour and the force regeneration and eloys tank resetting etc etc. Lot of money every 6 months to a year.

Ford part start at 800 . Will last a lot longer with being a genuine part but around the £1200 mark for fitting and force regeneration etc.

Trouble is ford claim it's a serviceable part upto 100k .

Mine failed at 108. But I wouldn't advise a straight through pipe. As it's a visual check on MOT. as long as that canister is there and not seem to be tampered with they can't fail it. . . As of yet.

Only reason I got rid of mine is thanks to VW scandal I was worried in case VOSA did random checks and caught me out. Just my opinion and information shared.

Mine failed at 47k...

Kev, did you sell yours privately or PX it? Any issues there?
