Hi,

Error code U0073 for ford focus 1.6 TDCI

I know its a communication with Bus off.

​But i need to know what the root cause is?

Is it a fuse, or the ECU. Bad earth or something more sinister?

    I was just messing with a ford transit 2011 earlier and it had this code logged. I cleared it with IDS and asked the owner to keep an eye open. He did say when he first got the van he did have some trouble with a rear light cluster not earthing right so it might have been a historical issue.

    How did you get the U error code? What diagnostics was being used?

    A U error code especially a comms bus error does not mean there is a problem, it can and often will be logged during a diagnostic session.

    It does state in IDS modules should never be replaced based on a U error code alone.

    So my point is it is normal to get this sometimes unless there are other issues connecting to the various ECU's and connection is a problem.
