Escort Ghia Si

Featured Replies

Hi folks, I have inherited a Ford Escort from my late father and i don't know what to do with it. It is an L reg escort saloon ghia si. Its in good condition with only 43,000 miles on the clock, I don't know if its a classic or whether to take it to the scrap yard. It has a 1.7 engine size and i can't find any others like that they all seem to have 1.8 engines. I would dearly appreciate any info on this model from you guys that may know. Thanks in advance for any help. Paul.

There will be value in it to someone - definetly do not take it the scrapyard.

Is it diesel or petrol? The only 1.7 petrol engine I am aware of was fitted to the Puma.

It is a Petrol Engine

It's the first 1.7 Escort Ghia si of that year / model i've heard of - has it had an engine change ?

Hi, No it hasn't had an engine change, all original stuff.

Ive never heard of 1.7 in escort either, 1.4pte,1.6cvh, 1.3 hcs, 1,3 endura,1.6,1.8 zetec, 2.0 dohc. Have I missed any? Lol

ok, I've looked under the bonnet and it says 1.7 on the engine block and thats what i was going by but a look at the v5 and yes its a 1798cc so its a 1.8, sorry guys, should have double checked first. Is it worth me selling it though??

Without a transplant it had to be a 1.8 . . . . - it could well be worth good money - have a look on Autotrader for similar examples & prices

It would be good if you could put it in your garage for 10 years, be worth good money then as a tidy 30 year old car as long as youve got the space to park it and forget about it.
