Engine Management Light On When I Change Head Unit

Please can someone shed some light

Trying to replace head unit on my fiesta, every time I run the car with a aftermarket head unit engine light comes on

I can reset it as I brought a cheap device on eBay and with original it stays off

Does anyone know how to stop it coming on I know there is some sort of sensor in it
