Focus Lx Tddi - Tailgate Locking Issues

Just to let those know who offered advice regarding the tailgate lock on my focus - after the use of much swearing & judicial use of a hammer & flat ended screw driver, i managed to open the tailgate from inside the car - subsequently i`ve fitted a `new` lock mechanism purchased via ebay. at least i can lock & unlock the tailgate now just using the key - not fussed particularly about it not unlocking still from the central locking ...

the only issue i have now is that the boot release switch on the dashboard isnt working ... any ideas to remedy this would be very much appreciated ???

    boot release is part of the central locking so if that's not working the switch wont work :(

    central locking unlocks then locks the drivers, front passenger, & both rear passenger doors but not the tailgate ... the tailgate will unlock off the key but not from the boot release button ...

    Are you sure that the solenoids in the boot lock are working?

    The Mk1 Focus boot locks are prone to blowing due to failing wiring in the roof to tailgate conduit (rubber tube).

    I'd investigate first if any power is getting to the lock (fuse or wiring) and if so are the solenoids working.

    ive got the same problem on a 03 foucs just had a quick look took the lock off to find the electrical connection has blown and corroded pins snapped what are these called little white box which clips into the lock
