Paladine
So today, I pulled over outside the nail salon to pick up my fiancee and when I set off again I noticed a knocking sound coming from the rear passenger side. The timing between the knocks decreases the faster I go (which suggests to me something to do with the wheel) and the noise disappears under breaking. There doesn't seem to be any issues with control or power distribution and I had a quick check under the car and inside the alloys and couldn't see anything caught up in the wheels etc. but I am a little concerned - I am taking the car in for some work in a week or so when I am going to be away on a trip and won't be using it but I am not sure whether it is safe to drive currently? Anyone have any ideas?

Paladine
sounds like worn rubber bushes I thought bushes at first too but then why does the sound stop under breaking? The vehicle is still moving so the bushes should still make a sound but it stops entirely under breaking which has me thinking maybe something in the drum? ScaniaPBman
Err, have you checked all the wheel nuts are tight? Jack it up and check the wheel bearings, one might have failed. It happened to me once and it was that bad that the rear wheel was sitting at a crazy angle ready to come off. ScaniaPBman
Dee_82
my partners festa had a similar problem, the offside front rota was fairly heavily corroded at the top, it didn't look like it was rubbing but I replaced it anyway, new pads and discs, problems solved. ScaniaPBman deffo check the wheel nuts to ensure they are tight - mine were knocking one day and within 100 yards one wheel fell off - on a roundabout! i had the tyres changed and it did say to re-check the nuts were tight after 50 miles or something and i didnt bother...
