Engine 'shudder' At Idle

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I have a 2008 Ford Fiesta ZetecS 1.6 with around 51k miles on it

Recently I've noticed that at temperature, the engine will 'shudder' and the rev counter will go up and down at idle, say when I'm stopped at a junction or traffic lights.

I haven't had the car serviced since I've owned it (6 months) but only recently noticed this problem.

I've read online that this could be Spark Plugs or Fuel Filter related - and would be best just having the car serviced.

I just need some confirmation that this fault could be plugs or fuel filter.

Thanks,

Jackk

Hi mate if it has an idle control valve remove it should be 2 bolts and clean it with carb cleaner put it back on cheap fix if its that it was on my old car

If your car is a diesel get it looked at as lumpy idle is a sign of carbon build up/EGR valve problems and I have had SO many problems with my corsa with this! £600 in parts alone and still not fixed! You can get Terraclean out to clean the engine.
