High revs when foot released from accelerator

Featured Replies

noticed a fault the last few times I've driven my 2003 focus c max. When starting from cold and I pull upto a junction and release the accelerator the rpm will rise to 2000 revs and stay there for between 3-5 seconds. This lasts about 5 mins until the car has warmed up and then it reverts back to normal. It sounds like I'm sat at the junction revving the engine waiting to rush away. I still have a couple of weeks left on the warranty of the car but with it being 120 mile round trip if it's something I can fix myself I'll put my hand to it. Thanks in advance.

I had this issue in the mondeo, though not to the same extent. replaced the fuel filter and it seems to have stopped now.
