AC button lighting up on its own

I have a 55 plate 2.0 Ghia with manual climate control and I have noticed that when I first turn the blower switch when getting in the car, even with the dial turned to hot, the AC button automatically comes on. 

That doesn't seem right to me.

    If you leave the control set to screen+face vents it should stay off.

    Just to clear up too, as I'm sure most of you know

    AC doesn't just cool air, it also removes moisture, hence why It switches on when the air flow is directed at the windscreen
