Buying the correct 6000cd radio

Featured Replies

I have a 55 plate 2.0 Ghia with a 6000cd radio in it but it is the cd changer version that won't allow an aux in connection. I want to replace it with either the 6000cd with aux button or the Sony/Ford stereo but when I look on ebay some say that they fit Focus's and some don't. I also noticed that some looked exactly like mine but the phone button was on the lower right with a phone symbol whereas mine is upper right with the word phone on it, will that mean that the wiring will be different.

For my particular year of car what ones can I safely buy and what ones will not fit? Also if I find a Sony unit does the aux socket go in the same place as the 6000cd, the glove box?

I'm confused!

Dave.

Avoid any radio listing that mentions Mondeo as the Mondeo radio is a different shape (faceplate is angled and wider at the top & the radio itself is too deep for a Focus dash) .

Any one for a fusion, focus or fiesta is fine.

So even though on the face of it they look exactly the same the Mondeo one is actually slightly different?

I can't believe Ford even kept the same code name 6000cd for the centre button units and the old ones with the larger screen in the centre from the mark 1. Makes it all very confusing.

Typical Ford there :d

The Mondeo unit is shaped to fit the mk3 dash which is slanted and far deeper than other models.

Easiest way to identify the differences are by looking at the faces.

Mondeo one has an obviously wider top end, the Focus one has a small lip at the top.

the later 2007 onwards ones have red illuminations ..so make sure you get the one with the same dash light colours
